Water Sports in Goa

Goa is a paradise for water sports lovers. The long coastal area offers wonderful oppurtunites to indulge in all sorts of water-sport activites. The goan coast has always appealed beach lovers and sports lovers to try on some new watery excitement. Surf the seas or float across the skies, the options of sport enjoyment are never ending in Goa.

There is no other destination in India than Goa for water sports. The vast coast line and picturesque beaches are perfect venue for several water sports in Goa. The ideal season for water sports in Goa is from October to May. It is the period when the weather is at its best in Goa and the sea is placid. The water sports facilities are one of the best in Goa and at par with water sporting facilities in international destinations. There are several institutes in Goa that provide beginner's lessons and training in water sports. Some of the hotels in Goa also have facilities for water sports. Some of the popular water sports available in Goa are angling, dinghy sailing, parasailing, scuba diving, water scooters, water skiing and wind surfing.

And who can forget the under water world where there's so much to see. Even if Goa isn't having any magnificent coral reefs, still it boasts with a variety of fascinating marine life. One can never get tired of scuba diving into the wreckage of the colonial ships that belong to the Portuguese. The para sailing, water-skiing and wind surfing will take your breath away. If you are a learner, you can take some diving lessons or embark on fishing trips and Dolphin cruises.
 
Parasailing in Goa
Parasailing is a highly breathtaking sport well-liked in Goa. The parachutes are tied to the speedboats. A rope about 300 feet long is attached to the parasail connect at one end and to the speed boat at the other. As the speedboat speeds off the Para sailor is heaved up in the air. He has little or no control over the parachute. The tow-vehicle controls the speed and height and the person flying the parasail controls the parasail sideways. One enjoys the sight of the clear blue-sky and the exciting aquamarine water below. Parasailing in Goa is an exciting experience. Tourists enjoy this sport massively.
   
Jet Skiing in Goa
Jet Skiing is a crucial water sport for speed lovers. Jet skiing is one of the most exhilarating water sports activities. The jet skis in Goa are motorized at 100-135 hp. However, despite posing such gripping prospects, the machine is also very simple to use. Even then, the operators usually send instructors along so that one should not get carried away with the fun. Usually the pre-defined area for jet-skiing is within operator's sight.

Some beaches where one can pursue this jet skiing are Colva, Calangute, Anjuna, Baga, Candolim and Aguada.
   
Water Skiing
Among the water sports in Goa, water skiing is a lot more well-liked with the tourists coming here for the amount of adventure and fun attached to it. Water skiing is an entirely different concept from snow skiing and is a lot loved by the adventure travelers. Splashing into the depths of water is thrilling for those who enjoy gliding in the waves of the sea. Water skiing is a lot similar to surfing with the only difference being that unlike surfing. Wind Surfing in Goa

Wind surfing is primarily a surface water sport using a windsurf board, better known as sailboard. This board extends to two to five meters and powered by a single sail. The rig is joined to the board by a free- rotating lithe joint. A wind surfer is steered by the tilting and rotating of the mast and sail and the board. An efficient wind surfer can perform jumps, inverted loops, spinning maneuvers and other free style movements. Windsurfing is the most admired water sports in Goa . Windsurfing is non-mechanized but it is very difficult to learn this sport. Windsurfing is relatively economical and primarily requires commitment, good health and a professional instructor.

   
Wake Boarding

Wake Boarding is a surface water sports. The rider in this sport rides a single board and the rider is towed behind a boat. Wake Boarding is quite similar to water skiing sport but the major difference between these two sports is that in wake boarding you require less focus on the balance. If you want to sail through the high sea waters, then wake boarding is definitely worth a try.

In Wake boarding you will get a single board. In wake boarding more air is involved and it is pursued at a slower pace.

   
Banana Boat Rides

Banana ride is a popular water sport for kids, but it is equally popular among adults. The banana-shaped rider has a seating capacity of six people, which is towed by a speedboat rolling. It is considered to be a favorite water sports in Goa. Riders sit astride a large tube which is fastened by two smaller tubes which provide balance and footrests. It allows the riders to experience the thrill of moving really fast and close to the water.

Banana boat rides are a constant process of being flung into sea and of carrying yourself back into the banana boat.
